MADELEINE PIERARD
Mezzo-Soprano
Madeleine Pierard (mezzo-soprano) is originally from Napier, New Zealand, and comes from a large family of musicians. She studied piano from an early age before turning to the voice as her instrument. She completed a Bachelor of Music at Victoria University in Wellington and was awarded First Class Honours in 2005.

She has been awarded many prizes and scholarships, including the Lexus Song Quest and the PACANZ National Young Performer of the Year Award in 2004. She now studies with Lillian Watson at the Royal College of Music, where she met Christina Lawrie.

Madeleine returns regularly to New Zealand for opera and concerts, and has a particular interest in performing contemporary vocal works and has premiered many works by established and emerging New Zealand composers.

Recent concert engagements include tours as soloist in New Zealand and with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in China.
